MI vs KKR – IPL – Team Previews

Mumbai Indians

In their previous encounter against Delhi Capitals, Mumbai Indians emerged victorious after two consecutive losses. They elected to bowl and won a nail-biter that went down to the wire. Skipper Rohit Sharma played a brilliant innings, scoring a half-century, while Cameron Green and Tim David finished off the game.

Mumbai’s batting lineup seems to be in good form, but they still face issues with their bowling, lacking an experienced fast bowler. In their upcoming match against KKR at the Wankhede, they will rely on their strong batting lineup to perform well.

However, they may have to do without Jofra Archer, who has been sidelined due to elbow trouble. Australian quicks Behrendorff and Riley Meredith will have to step up in the fast-bowling department, while Piyush Chawla is expected to maintain his good form from the previous game where he took 3/22.

Kolkata Knight Riders

KKR has had a mixed season so far, currently sitting in fourth place with four points. Although they managed to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat against Gujarat Titans in their previous match, they couldn’t hold on against Sunrisers Hyderabad, despite the heroic efforts of Rinku Singh, who scored big once again.

Nitish Rana and Venky Iyer have been consistently contributing to KKR’s batting lineup, which is a positive sign for the team’s future prospects in the tournament. However, KKR’s bowling attack failed to put pressure on SRH’s batters, conceding 228 runs in 20 overs, with only Andre Russell managing to take three wickets before getting injured and leaving the field.

The injury to Russell will be a major concern for KKR going forward. The overseas fast bowler slot is proving to be a huge problem for them, with neither Tim Southee nor Lockie Ferguson impressing. They have banked heavily on their spin troika of Narine, Varun Chakravarthy and Suyash Sharma, who have been doing an excellent job.
