ENG vs AUS – 1st ODI – Team Preview
The world champions in the T20 format have played brilliant cricket in recent times. Their T20 world cup campaign started with a slow momentum but after defeating New Zealand in a group stage game, England gained much-required confidence and went on to win the T20 World Cup trophy. Jos Buttler and his men will be high on confidence and will be ready to face win the ODI series against the hosts.
England’s team management has selected some of the best players for the ODI series against Australia. The last time England won an ODI series in Australia was in 2018 and they would like to get over the drought. Jason Roy, James Vince, and Jos Buttler in the batting, the lineup looks strong and unbeatable. Sam Billings will be responsible to lead the middle order and continue the momentum that is provided by the opening pair.
In the bowling section, they don’t have any shortage of options and with their current bowling form, England will be lethal when they get on the field.
Australia is witnessing a major dip in their performance even before the beginning of the T20 World Cup. They lost the T20 series to England and then were eliminated at the group stage in the T20 World Cup. The overall morale looks down in the Aussies and that will affect the outcome of the series.
Alex Carey is back in the team and will be making a huge impact in the middle order of Australia. He is one of the key players in the team. Aaron Finch will be absent for the whole series and hence Australia’s opening order will be weak with just David Warner at the other end. Steve Smith or Marnus Labuschagne will be preferred to open with Warner.
Pat Cummins has done a great job in leading the team and he has performed brilliantly with the bowl. Cummins will lead the pace trio of Hazlewood and Starc with the leg-break bowler Adam Zampa in the mix.
