BAN vs IRE – 3rd ODI – Team Previews
Bangladesh will face off against Ireland in the third and final ODI of the series at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on March 20. Despite a strong start in the series, Bangladesh were denied a chance to seal the series early due to rain disrupting the second match.
In the first ODI, Bangladesh scored an impressive 349 runs with Mushfiqur Rahim, Litton Das, and Najmul Hossain Shanto contributing significantly. Unfortunately, for Ireland, they did not get the chance to chase as the match was abandoned without a ball being bowled.
With Bangladesh eager to clinch the series and Ireland looking to level it, the upcoming match promises to be an exciting contest. However, Bangladesh’s middle-order batter Afif Hossain and medium pacer Shoriful Islam have been released from the squad ahead of the third ODI to feature in the Dhaka Premier League.
Ireland suffered a crushing 183-run defeat in the opening game of the three-match ODI series against Bangladesh. With the series now hanging in the balance, Ireland will be keen to win the third game and level the series.
The Irish bowlers have struggled in both matches so far, conceding over 300 runs each time. Meanwhile, their batters haven’t had much opportunity to make amends after a poor showing in the first game.
Despite these difficulties, Ireland’s head coach Heinrich Malan says that the team is focusing on progress rather than just results. Malan also believes that they still have a chance to upset the hosts, though the rainy and overcast conditions may seem more favourable for Ireland.
However, Malan acknowledges that the Bangladesh fast bowling unit, which includes Mustafizur Rahman as the third seamer, is quite formidable and will be looking to capitalize on the weather conditions as well.
