IND vs SA – 2nd ODI – Team Previews

India

During the first ODI game between India and South Africa, team India witnessed a lot of changes in the playing XI. the absence of regular players was clearly one of the reasons for the loss. During the early hours of the game, it looked like the bowlers will dominate the game, but the middle order of the Proteas squad completely thrashed the plan of the Men in Blue.

India had an advantage as they won the toss and decided to bowl first. It was an opportunity for the bowlers to showcase their talent. With the new ball, among the pacers, Shardul Thakur made two early strikes but was unable to make any impact on the game overall. In the spin section, Kuldeep Yadav and Ravi Bishnoi partnered to pick one wicket each and kept good control of the run rate of the opposition.

In the batting department, the opening order, comprising skipper Shikhar Dhawan, Shubman Gill and Ruturaj Gaikwad, completely failed to give the team a stable start. In the middle order, Sanju Samson and Shreyas Iyer handled the scoreline but it was too late to recover from the damage. On Sunday, team India will have to bounce back or else they will lose the ODI series.

South Africa

South Africa got an opportunity to set up a scoreline for the hosts on Thursday. The starting was not as good as expected as Janneman Malan, Temba Bavuma, and Aiden Markram departed early from the field. Former skipper Quinton de Kock provided momentum in the batting lineup and helped his team to handle the pressure.

After de Kock’s departure, it was time for South Africa’s middle order to rise and shine and they did it in style. Heinrich Klassen and David Miller established a good partnership on the ground and helped the team to reach a score of 249 in 40 overs.

The bowling department of South Africa struggled during the T20 series. However, in the ODI format, the bowlers were completely different and came out as more ferocious. Kagiso Rabada started to unleash his skills and Ngidi followed him later. The duo had a great partnership and picked up some crucial wickets.
