MS vs KAR – PSL – Team Previews

Multan Sultans

The Multan team has discovered a winning formula, which their coach Andy Flower and team management will hope to maintain. In the absence of their key fast bowler Shahnawaz Dahani, young talents Ihsanullah and Abbas Afridi have stepped up to lead the Southern pace attack. Mohammad Ilyas, who replaced Sameen Gul in the Sultans’ lineup, is expected to retain his spot after an impressive performance against Islamabad.

Multan Sultans enter their next match with confidence, buoyed by the form of their top-order batsmen, including Mohammad Rizwan, Rilee Rossouw, and David Miller. The only concern in their batting lineup is Shan Masood, who has been out of form since his opening stand of 35 runs with Rizwan.

The Multan Sultans’ bowling has been the best in the PSL 2023 season so far, with Ihsanullah taking 10 wickets in three games, supported by young pacer Abbas Afridi and spinner Usama Mir, who have each picked up eight wickets. Mohammad Ilyas has also joined the party with two wickets in the last game.

Karachi Kings

After losing their first three matches of the season, the Karachi-based team finally clinched their first victory against Lahore Qalandars. Despite being the team with the highest number of losses this season (3), they managed to defend their first-inning total of 185 runs and bowled out the defending champions for just 118 in under 18 overs.

In the game against Lahore, the team addressed some issues by promoting Matthew Wade to the opening slot, which paid off with a quickfire 36 runs off 24 balls. James Vince also found form with a knock of 43.

Shoaib Malik has been the most consistent batsman for the team this season with two half-centuries, while Haider Ali has struggled to make an impact after scoring a fifty earlier in the season. Among their bowlers, Aamer Yamin has been the pick with five wickets in two games, while Akif Javed, a new addition to the team, took four wickets in his first few matches.

MS vs KAR – PSL – Match Prediction

After a difficult start, the Multan Sultans are on a roll, while the Kings picked up a much-needed victory in their last game. But history favours the Karachi Kings, who are the only side to have a positive head-to-head record against Multan. It will be a battle between the Sultans’ batting and the Kings’ bowling unit but we expect the Multan Sultans to emerge victorious.
