  • The sultans had a blockbuster year last season. The most consistent team lost only two games out of 12 and finished runners-up in the tournament.

MS vs LQ – PSL – Team Previews

Multan Sultans

one of the most consistent teams throughout the entire season. The franchise kept the majority of its core players, including Mohammad Rizwan, who was a standout success. Tim David, who was selected through a trump card last season, was also retained, although his classification was changed from Platinum to Gold.

The Sultans also retained key players such as Shan Masood, Khushdil Shah, Rilee Rossouw, and Shahnawaz Dahani. They also kept emerging players Abbas Afridi and Ihsanullah. They also acquired Irish seamer Josh Little, who has previously played for Manchester Originals in The Hundred and was impressive in Ireland’s victory over England in the T20 World Cup, taking 2 for 16.

Usama Mir, a leg-spinner, was recently given an ODI cap after a standout performance in the Pakistan Cup, where he led the tournament in wickets taken with 28 strikes at an average of 17.96.

Lahore Qalandars

The Qalandars have a storied history in recent seasons, having competed in two finals in the past three years and emerged victorious in the most recent tournament. They placed second in the group stage, boasting six wins and four losses. The team has centered their roster around star player Afridi, who has returned from a knee injury and has parted ways with veteran Hafeez. Fakhar Zaman was dropped, only to be re-selected in the draft alongside Haris Rauf, Wiese, and Rashid Khan.

Rauf, a rising star and the face of Qalandars PDP, has developed into a standout player for the country. The franchise has also acquired another local fast bowler, Jalat. They continue to invest in the development of Zaman Khan, who made a significant impact last season.

Since May 2022, Raza has been a powerhouse, racking up 954 runs with six half-centuries and a strike rate of over 140. With the ball, he has taken 39 wickets and maintained an economy rate of only 6.8 runs per over. David Wiese has also made a significant contribution, scoring 558 runs with a strike rate of 160.80 in T20s, and taking 36 wickets at an economy rate of 7.88 since the start of 2022.

MS vs LQ – PSL – Pitch Report and Toss prediction

The pitch at the Multan Cricket Stadium is generally good for batting. Since no cricket has been played at the venue in the lead-up to the tournament, no conclusions regarding the nature of the pitch can be drawn. The general trend in T20 cricket is to field first and that might be the case on this occasion as well.

MS vs LQ – PSL – Match Prediction

The last encounter between the two teams, which was the PSL final last year, was won by the Lahore Qalandars. In the last 5 games though, the Sultans have the edge, with 3 wins. But this is a very different Lahore side under Shaheen Afridi and we expect the defending champions to prevail once again.
