PC vs PR – SA20 – Team Previews

Pretoria Capitals

The Capitals have had a near-perfect group-stage campaign where they have lost just three out of nine games. Two Englishmen, Will Jacks and Phil Salt along with Theunis de Bruyn, have been amongst the runs. From a bowling perspective, Anrich Nortje and Wayne Parnell have been doing the job.

In the last game against the Super Giants, the Capitals were blown away by Heinrich Klaasen, who scored a century as Durban scored the highest score in the SA20. Pretoria, in reply, could only muster 103. With the way they have been performing, this loss can be considered an aberration.

Will Jacks has been the key man for Pretoria as he is the top run-scorer with 270 runs in 7 games and also picked up 3 wickets with his part-time off-breaks. Buttler is the key man for the opposition and his battle with Anrich Nortje with the new ball will be a good contest.

Paarl Royals

The Royals have blown hot and cold throughout the tournament and their position on the table reflects that. They need to win this game to cement their place in the next round. If they lose though, they shouldn’t lose too badly to keep their run rate above the Durban franchise.

Their last game was against the Joburg Super Kings, which ended in a no result due to rain. The Royals were actually in a good position at 131/4 after 15 overs and were set for a big total before rain intervened.

The biggest positive to come out of the game was the welcome return to form for Jason Roy, who scored 61 (42). Buttler is their top run-scorer and his opening partnership with Roy will be crucial. The spin duo of Bjorn Fortuin and Evan Jones have taken a combined 25 wickets and will look to restrict the batsmen in the middle overs.

PC vs PR – SA20 – Toss Prediction and Pitch report

The Durban Super Giants scored a massive 254/4 in the last game played at this venue against the home side. So the surface at SuperSport park is very conducive to batting. The average first innings score is around the 150-mark but teams might have to score around 180 to defend it. It should also be noted that seamers have found some joy with the new ball. Unlike other venues around the country, this is very much a bat-first surface. Temperatures will also reach as high as 29 degrees on Tuesday.

PC vs PR – SA20 – Match Prediction

After taking a serious beating at the hands of the Durban Super Giants in their last game, the Pretoria Capitals will hope for a much better showing in this game. But with the top spot sealed and nothing to play for, they might be in for another loss against the Royals, who desperately need a victory in this match. The last time these two teams met, it was the Royals who came out on top by 6 wickets.
