The Indian women’s team will take on Ireland women in the 18th match of the Women’s T20 World Cup. It promises to be an exciting contest as a lot rides on this game, with India’s qualification hopes on the line, while the Irish are already eliminated from the tournament.

  • Following a disappointing loss to England in the Women’s T20 World Cup, India will seek to come back strongly with a convincing win over Ireland to stay in the running for a spot in the semifinals.
  • Despite their defeat, India is currently in second place in their group with four points from three matches. Meanwhile, table-toppers England has already secured their place in the semi-finals.

INDW vs IREW – T20 WC – Team Previews

India Women

India needs to win the game by a big margin to improve their net run rate of +0.205, to maintain their second position in Group 2 and qualify for the semi-finals.

India faced England in their previous match where they won the toss and opted to field. Despite losing early wickets, England managed to post a total of 151 for 7, thanks to Nat Sciver-Brunt’s impressive knock. Renuka Singh was India’s standout performer with the ball, taking five wickets to finish with figures of 5/15. While India started their chase well with Smriti Mandhana scoring a brilliant fifty, they ultimately lost the match by 11 runs.

India will be looking to dominate with their batting, particularly their captain Harmanpreet Kaur and opener Shafali Verma, who are yet to make a significant impact in the tournament. Richa Ghosh has been India’s most consistent batter, scoring 31, 44, and 47 not out in the previous matches, and will be aiming to continue her good form.

India’s bowling attack will be led by Renuka Singh, who would be aiming to replicate her career-best performance against England, and the seasoned Deepti Sharma, who has been consistent throughout the tournament. If India’s batters can put up a strong total, their bowling attack should be able to defend it against the struggling Irish team.

Ireland Women

In their last match against West Indies, Ireland won the toss and chose to bat. However, their decision did not go according to plan as they could only manage to post a total of 137 for the loss of nine wickets.

Orla Prendergast was the top scorer for Ireland with a fine half-century. Despite her effort, Hayley Matthews from West Indies managed to take her side over the line and remained unbeaten. West Indies won the match by six wickets in the last over of the game with just one ball to spare.

Losing all three games has been a tough tournament for the Irish women’s team but it’s still early days and they can take a lot of learnings from their three performances. Although a consolation, a victory against a strong Indian side will do wonders for this team going forward.

INDW vs IREW – T20 WC – Pitch Report and Toss Prediction

The pitch at St George’s Park is known to provide balanced conditions with some assistance for the pacers with ample pace and bounce on offer. However, the surface tends to hold the ball a bit, which means that batters need to exercise patience early in their innings. The spinners from both teams will also be eager to bowl on this track. Generally, teams prefer to chase on this ground, which suggests that winning the toss and opting to bowl first could be a likely choice for the captains.

INDW vs IREW – T20 WC – Match Prediction

The Indian women’s team will have too much for the Irish to handle, especially with the Indian team needing a huge victory. We expect a comfortable win for the Indian women.
