India scored a dominating win in the second fixture against New Zealand and now both teams are all set to play the third and the last fixture of the three-match ODI series. The visitors would like to wipe out the hosts completely and the Kiwis would look forward to ending the series with a draw.

  • In absence of senior players, Suryakumar Yadav rose to the occasion and provided a winning momentum to the team
  • Kane Williamson’s struggles to quick score runs are not coming to an end
  • Napier is traditionally a high-scoring venue for the batsmen

NZ vs IND – 3rd T20i – Team Preview

New Zealand

The Kiwis are not used to the kind of aggression team India showed at their home ground. The last fixture would have easily affected the confidence and overall morale of the team. The performance graph of New Zealand has suddenly witnessed a major dip after losing their game against India on Sunday and getting eliminated by Pakistan in the T20 World Cup.

Kane Williamson was the highest scorer from the hosts’ side but his slow strike rate was the main reason for not getting a positive result. Williamson was expecting a good partnership with Glenn Phillips and Daryl Mitchell but that didn’t happen and the middle order just collapsed before anyone could realise it. Napier is a batting pitch and Glenn Phillips can be a trump card for New Zealand.

The bowling attack achieved some success during the beginning of the first inning but couldn’t stop Suryakumar Yadav. Tim Southee and Lockie Ferguson will be expected to pick early wickets and Ish Sodhi can help his team in the middle overs.

India

After India’s semi-final exit in the T20 World Cup, the men in blue witnessed a lot of changes in the team and all the senior players were sent to rest. With a new skipper, team India showed a new dominance and declared that they are still the T20 expert in international cricket.

A 56-run second-wicket stand was broken by Washington Sundar, who had two costly overs. Devon Conway was the victim. After being dismissed for a duck on the first delivery at number 6, Deepak Hooda went on to finish with bowling figures of 4 for 10 from 2.5 Overs. Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s lack of pace but swing talent is working in favour of team India.

Suryakumar Yadav turned out to be the hero of the game. Coming at number three, he provided stability to the team. Unfortunately, no other batsmen could partner with Surya and hence in the upcoming fixture, batters like Shreyas Iyer, Deepak Hooda, and Rishabh Pant will have to pull up their socks.

NZ vs IND – 3rd T20i – Toss Prediction and Pitch Report

Napier is known for its high-scoring games and the pitch is a batting paradise. It also has short square boundaries. The toss-winning team should opt to bat first because out of 5 games last played, 3 times the team batting first has won the game.

NZ vs IND – 3rd T20i – Match Prediction

Even after India’s dominating win in the last game, the quality of the New Zealand squad can’t be ignored. It will be a high-scoring encounter and we expect team India to win.
