SL vs UAE – ICC T20 World Cup – Team Preview

Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka faced a shocking upset in their first game of the ICC T20 World Cup. The game against Namibia turned out to be a major disappointment and things were not in favour of the Lankan tiger. That huge loss has brought their net run rate down to -2.750 and they would now need a big win to compensate for it.

After winning the toss, Sri Lanka chose to bowl first and Namibia got the benefit of the decision at every step. Lankan bowlers did pick up some wickets but were unable to stop the Namibia batsmen from scoring runs. Pramod Madushan was the highest wicket-taker with 2 wickets from the Sri Lanka side.

When it comes to chasing the score given by the opposite batsmen, the Sri Lankan opening lineup completely failed to give momentum to the team. Their batting was shambolic and none of the batters could hang around long enough to see the team through. Kusal Mendis, Dhananjaya de Silva, and Bhanuka Rajapaksa will be in the spotlight again to score big numbers for their teams.

United Arab Emirates

Although the United Arab Emirates lost their first game against the Netherlands, they would be proud of how they fought until the end. After posting a modest 111-8 on the board, they bowled tightly through the middle overs, and the Netherlands could only scrape through in the penultimate ball with three wickets remaining.

The primary issue with UAE is their batting lineup. Chirag Suri and Muhammad Waseem are two solid batsmen but even they failed to score in recent games. Wicket-keeper batter Vriitya Aravind is another to watch out for. He has an average of close to 30 in T20Is at a strike rate of 130.41.

Junaid Siddique is the star performer in the bowling department and the team has very high expectations of him. The right-arm pacer picked up 3 wickets in 4 overs and was consistently troubling the Netherlands batters.

SL vs UAE – ICC T20 World Cup – Toss Prediction & Pitch Report

Simonds stadium is clearly a bowler’s paradise because of the bigger boundaries. It becomes difficult for a batsman to score quick runs. However, it is a slower pitch and it becomes much slower in the second innings. The toss-winning team should opt to bat first.

SL vs UAE – ICC T20 World Cup – Match Prediction

Sri Lanka will be still in shock after losing to Namibia in the last game. However, they are a strong team and are known to make comebacks in cricket. We expect Sri Lanka to win the game.
