Chennai Super Kings will be eager to score their first victory in the 2023 season of the Indian Premier League when they will square off against Lucknow Super Giants on Monday. The sixth match of the T20 Championship is scheduled to be played at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on April 03.

It will be a homecoming for the MS Dhoni-led side after a gap of over three years and they will be hoping to make the game more special by recording their first win of IPL 2023. Chennai Super Kings are currently occupying the seventh place in the points table with no points to their name. The team faced Gujarat Titans in the season opener and ended up securing a defeat by five wickets. 

MS Dhoni & Men failed to show promise with the ball as GT batters easily took the team home in the second innings after batting for 19.2 overs. Put to bat first, the Super Kings posted a score of 178 runs on the board. The opening batter Ruturaj Gaikwad looked in good shape as he smacked a knock of 92 runs. 

Following the score, GT saw the exploits of the opening batter Shubman Gill who hammered 63 runs off just 36 balls with the help of six boundaries and three maximums. Rajvardhan Hangargekar was the only CSK bowler to make an impact in the game as he picked up a total of three wickets.

On the other hand, Lucknow Super Giants are in second place in the points table. They got better off 2020 finalists Delhi Capitals in their first game of IPL 2023. LSG came up with a terrific performance in all three facets of the game. After losing the toss, KL Rahul & Men smacked 193 runs on the scoreboard in their allotted 20 overs.

The opening batter Kyle Mayers was the standout performer for the team with a knock of 73 runs. Chasing the score, Delhi looked good with the skipper David Warner is a great rhythm. However, the seamer Mark Wood launched an assault on DC’s batting line-up and brought the momentum back on LSG’s side. The English star took a five-wicket haul to fold Delhi at a score of 143 runs in their allotted 20 overs.
