In their opening match of the Indian Premier League 2023, Mumbai Indians were beaten by Royal Challengers Bangalore. The eight-wicket loss came as the team could not defend 171 runs in 20 overs. Their performance in the second match was no better as Chennai Super Kings hammered them by seven wickets. MI scored only 157 runs in the first innings and CSK chased the total within 18.1 overs.
