The limited-overs tour kick-starts from March 01, Wednesday with the first One Day International scheduled at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka. The two teams experienced contrasting rides in their most recent ODI series.

England are a better One Day team as compared to the Bangladesh side. The head–to-head records between the two sides are also a testimony for the same. The Englishmen have won 17 of their 22 One Day Internationals against the Tigers. Moreover, they are occupying the fourth place with 111 ratings and 3656 points in the ODI team rankings by the International Cricket Council. 

However, the Jos Buttler & Men have done well in the 50-over format in the recent past. Their last ODI series saw them registering a defeat against South Africa. Earlier in February, England traveled to South Africa to feature in three One Day Internationals. The first ODI saw South Africa defending 298 runs with ease to record a win by 27 runs. The Porteas continued their domination in the second game as well by chasing a massive total of 343 runs within 49.1 overs. However, after the five-wicket win, the hosts could not cause a cleansweep. England finally recorded their first win in the tournament by defeating the hosts by 59 runs. They scored 346 runs in the first innings and restricted the South African team to 287 runs in the second innings.

Speaking of Bangladesh, they are seventh in the ICC rankings. However, the team will be filled with momentum as they have won three of their last five One Day matches. It was a big achievement for the side in December last year as they defeated India in the three-match series by 2-1. Bangladesh won the first ODI and one wicket while in the second game they scored a win by five runs. The two back-to-back wins were followed by an embarrassing defeat in the third ODI by a whopping 227 runs. 

Having said that, the Bangladesh cricket team has not played even a single international game since the last two months. Despite the long sabbatical, the player will be in good rhythm as they recently played in the Bangladesh Premier League 2023.
