Playing the first ODI, the power-hitter took his team to victory by nine runs. South Africa looked in trouble in the first innings following a collapse of the batting line-up. However, Miller stood his ground as he returned with a knock of not out 75 runs off 63 balls. His unbeaten partnership of 139 runs with Heinrich Klaasen was the highlight of Proteas’ batting innings. Moreover, the visitors will be extremely pleased with Miller’s purple patch with the bat, as the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 is just a couple of days back.

Top Indian batter: Shreyas Iyer

Kolkata Knight Riders’ skipper Shreyas Iyer is considered the next big thing in the Indian cricket fraternity. The batter has a fine record in One Day International as he is making a serious claim to be included in the squad for the ODI next cup scheduled next year. Iyer has featured in 31 ODIs so far, scoring 1158 runs at an impressive average of 42.89. He was one of the positives for the host in the first One Day International with a knock of 50 runs. When the top five batters failed to perform, the Mumbai-born chipped in with a much-needed fifty. He is expected to continue with the good performance and take the Men in Blue home on Sunday.

The seamer Lungi Ngidi should be the pick of the bowler for the visitors on Sunday. The veteran ended up as the highest wicket-taker in the first ODI with three wickets under his belt at an economy rate of 6.5. He will be again hoping to make the same impact to help his team take an unassailable lead in the three-match series.
