The Caribbean side made a stunning start to their campaign in the World Cup Qualifiers by defeating the USA by 39 runs. Batting in the first innings, West Indies scored 297 runs while the USA collapsed at 258 runs.

The team continued the fine performance in their second game as well against Nepal. Again the batters ensured a victory for the side as they smacked 339 runs in the allotted 0 overs. Shai Hope and Nicholas Pooran were the wrecker-in-chiefs for the West Indies with knocks of 132 and 115 runs respectively. Chasing the score, Nepal only added 238 runs to the scoreboard and thus lost the match by 101 runs.

However, West Indies’ winning streak of two games finally ended in the third match against Zimbabwe. The game witnessed Zimbabwe scoring 268 runs in the allotted 50 overs. The West Indies bowlers did a good job but the batters could not carry forward the momentum in the second innings and collapsed after scoring 233 runs. The same resulted in the side losing by 39 runs and slipping to third place in the points table.

As far as the Netherlands are concerned, they have also experienced a similar journey in the 2023 edition of the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifiers as West Indies. With four points from two wins and one loss, they are second in the Group A standings. 

The Netherlands were in desperate need of some momentum following their first game of the competition. They suffered a six-wicket defeat against Zimbabwe after failing to chase 316 runs in 50 overs. Following the poor start, the team quickly made amends and defeated the USA and Nepal by five and seven wickets respectively.

Playing against the USA, the Netherlands dismissed them at a score of 211 runs and then chased the total within 43.2 overs. In the game against Nepal, the Netherlands bowlers gave only 167 runs in 44.3 overs in the first innings and the batters took the team home in 27.1 overs with seven wickets to spare. 

It will be a game to watch out for as both West Indies and the Netherlands will be hoping to win the Monday encounter and gain some momentum ahead of the playoffs of the World Cup Qualifiers.
