However, the team failed to make the same impact in the second game against Ireland. Rain was the main culprit behind England’s loss. In reply to Ireland’s 157, the team scored 105 runs in 14.3 overs after losing five wickets. Following that, the play was not possible because of rainfall and thus Ireland won by five runs due to the DLS method.

Coming to Australia, they faced a major setback in the form of an 89-run defeat against New Zealand in the curtain-raiser. The host posted only 111 runs while following a score of 201 runs. However, they redeemed themselves against Sri Lanka by chasing 158 runs in 16.3 overs to record a win by seven wickets. 

The two teams are expected to fight tooth and nail on Friday to avoid their second defeat in the T20 tournament.
