Following the score in the second innings, Zimbabwe batters scored 379 runs. The team witnessed an outstanding performance by Gary Ballance while Innocent Kaia was also successful in making an impact. The third innings of the match saw West Indies extending their lead by scoring 203 runs. Visitors continued their batting exploits as they hammered the Zimbabwe bowlers all over the park.

For the final innings, West Indies had a total of 54 overs to pick ten wickets and score a win in the first Test. However, they failed in accomplishing the task, as Zimbabwe lost only six wickets while posting 134 runs on the scoreboard. The two teams will now have the last opportunity to make an impact and seal the series.
