The Royal Kings defeated Siecham Madurai Panthers in their opening match of the T20 Championship by six wickets. It was an exceptional performance by the bowlers as they restricted Madurai to a score of 126 runs in their allotted 20 overs. Mohan Prasath won the Man of the Match award for Nellai by picking three wickets while bowling at an economy rate of 6.5. 

The Royal Kings continued their winning streak in the second game as well by defeating Lyca Kovia Kings. They scored a victory by four wickets as the batters chased the target of 182 runs with ease. Ajitesh Guruswamy was the wrecker-in-chief for NRK as he smacked 112 runs off just 60 balls. 

However, it was finally a bad day at the office for Nellai Royal Kings in their most recent T20 game as they suffered a seven-wicket defeat at the hands of IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans. The batters let the team down as playing in the first innings, they collapsed at a score of 124 runs in 20 overs. Playing on Thursday, the franchise will be eager to make amends and make a comeback to the winning ways. 

On the other hand, Salem Spartans have played only two matches so far and have won and lost one game each. Unlike the Royal Kings, the Spartans did not start the tournament on a winning note as they lost to Chepauk Super Gillies by 52 runs. Batting first in the match, Chepauk posted a massive score of 217 runs. It was not an easy total and Salem collapsed at 165 runs. 

However, the team was quick to cause a turnaround as they defeated Ba11sy Trichy in their next game. Abhishek Thakur picked three wickets while Sunny Sandhu and Ravi Karthikeyan scalped two each as Trichy were folded within 139 runs in the 20 overs. Chasing the score, the Salem batters continued the momentum as they took the team home within 15.2 overs. Kaushik Gandhi was the man in action for Spartans with a knock of 52 runs.
